Chinese Center on Long Island 長島中華協會

Presidents' Message - September 2017

After a summer of beaches, vacations and relaxation, the kids are ready to go back to school and the parents are preparing themselves for a semester of school, homework, sports practices and recitals.  I’m excited for the noises again at the center.  First day of classes start this month for the Center’s Chinese language and traditional dance classes.  Come in and register for the classes for your family. Ballroom dance classes and Toastmasters are opening up their registration again!  Feel free to bring your partner in for a complimentary dance lesson and sit in on our Toastmasters class.  I am also personally excited about the NEW young public speaking classes!  Public speaking is an essential life skill to have and starting early makes it much easier in the end.  Continue reading for information on the classes.

Upcoming events in September are our monthly meeting Friday, September 15th featuring Mo Yu Yee, “Night of the Cantonese opera at the Center” and a Tag Sale on Saturday, September 30th.  Now is the time to clean and purge your house of any items you don’t need and donate it to the Center for the Tag Sale.  Drop off instructions are detailed elsewhere in this newsletter.

We hope to see you all soon with the start of our school year!
